Chronology

1961:  born London, 7th October 

1966 summer:  asks to be taught the piano; almost immediately starts composing

1971:  first public concert appearance

1975:  chosen to play to Fanny Waterman at master-class, Aldeburgh Festival 

1977 – 79:  concertos, eg with local and national youth orchestras; ARCM Performer’s Diploma; Regional Finalist, BBC ‘Young Musician Of The Year’ Competition; Open Scholarship to read Classics & Modern Languages, and subsequently Music, at the University of Oxford

Studies piano with Prof. Alexander Kelly (Head Of Keyboard at Royal Academy of Music, London); by now producing compositions still acknowledged

1980:  plays to Jorge Bolet at master-class, Edinburgh Festival

1984:  performs at Almeida Festival, London; begins writing for periodical Tempo

Mid-1980s:  studies composition with Howard Skempton, and, subsequently, Horatiu Radulescu; piano with Susan Bradshaw

1986 — :  teaching eg at universities of London and Oxford, and for the Workers’ Educational Association; gives pre-concert talks at Wigmore Hall 

1992:  critically acclaimed first CD-release

Featured Composer at contemporary-music festivals in Oxford (1992), Cardiff (‘Explorations’, 1999) and London (2000)

1997:  first publication of music; performs at Conway Hall, London

1997 — :  increasingly close collaboration with visual artists leads to invitations to exhibit in own right, in London (1998 – 99) and Amsterdam (2002, under the aegis of the British Council)

1999 — :  performances in Cologne, Moscow, Bratislava and the US

2000s — :  further publications

2010s — :  performances in the Netherlands, Tel Aviv and Buenos Aires, and online

2018, 2021:  further album releases, eg on UK label “another timbre”
